San Juan Hills football notches another road win at Chino Hills
    • September 5, 2026

CHINO HILLS — It has been a well-traveled road trip for the San Juan Hills football team.

The Stallions have kicked off the season with three straight road opponents — going 2-1 — and will return home next week after defeating Chino Hills 14-11.

“It’s been a while since we played back in the Badlands and we get to go home,” coach Robert Frith said. “We were playing against a really good opponent, but it will be nice to go home.”

San Juan Hills traveled thousands of miles away to start the season in Hawaii, then traveled to Chaparral before coming to Chino Hills.

Frith said the team learned to become brothers during their three-game road stint.

It was a difficult first quarter for both teams. The Stallions marched down the field to start the game, wasting almost seven minutes off the clock, but were stopped short after getting a touchdown called back.

The Huskies (1-2) had an explosive play from wide receiver Micah Bryant that landed the Huskies inside the 20, but after making it inside the 5, they were stopped short and missed a 20-yard field goal attempt.

San Juan Hills responded with a massive play that put them inside the Chino Hills 38-yard line, but could not come away with any points.

The two heavyweights continued to exchange blows throughout the first half, with the Huskies striking first on a 42-yard field goal to go up 3-0 with under six minutes to play in the half.

San Juan Hills answered with a 52-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Eiler King to wide receiver Max Nuernberg to go ahead 7-3 with four minutes remaining.

San Juan Hills put the brakes on the Chino Hills offense with a stop on fourth down thanks to defensive end Aaron Pluff.

San Juan Hills added another touchdown when King dumped a pass to wide receiver Luke Frith for a 20-yard touchdown to go ahead 14-3 with under four to play in the third quarter.

Chino Hills struggled to move the ball in the second half, but put together a lengthy drive that took five minutes off the clock, culminating with a 6-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Caleb Castillo to wide receiver Marcus Kalta and a 2-point conversion to cut the deficit to 14-11.

Chino Hills got the ball back with under two minutes to drive 80 yards to tie or take a lead, but the San Juan Hills defense held its own on fourth-and-6 to take the win.

“Our defense was stingy tonight. They came to play,” Frith said. “Mike Mayoral, our defensive coordinator, put together a great game plan, and the defense won us the game tonight.”

King, a transfer from San Clemente High School, noted how excited he is to return home to San Juan Capistrano and play in front of the home crowd.

“Can’t wait to see our community come out and all the students,” King said.
