    Baseball roundup: Orange Lutheran, Mater Dei pick up wins in Trinity League

    Orange Lutheran hit two home runs and scored four runs in the last two innings to beat JSerra 8-3 in a Trinity League baseball game Tuesday at JSerra High.

    Eric Zdunek went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for Orange Lutheran (13-3, 2-2), ranked No. 1 in Orange County. Ricardo Hurtado had two hits with a home run. Trevor Deack and Zion Avina each drove in two runs and Cooper Sides allowed no earned runs in 4⅔ innings.

    Shane D’Arcy had a double and drove in two runs for JSerra (7-13, 1-6). Owen Mescall drove in a run for the Lions and Logan Osmundson had two hits.

    Orange Lutheran was playing its first game since winning the Boras Classic South tournament last week. JSerra went 1-3 in the Boras tournament.

    In other games Tuesday:

    In the Trinity League:

    St. John Bosco 5, Santa Margarita 1: Andre Owens hit a solo home run but the Eagles couldn’t score any more runs in a loss to St. John Bosco.

    Santa Margarita (14-6, 3-4) was held to just two hits and struck out 15 times. Tyler George allowed three earned runs in six innings with five strikeouts.

    Mater Dei 4, Servite 2: Sebastian Navarro and Tristan Ramos each hit home runs for Mater Dei in a win over visiting Servite.

    Navarro had two hits and Ramos also stole a base. Brady Guth drove in a run for Mater Dei (10-6, 2-2) and Carlos Landeros had seven strikeouts in four shutout innings.

    Jaden Liu drove in a run for Servite (12-7, 4-3) and John Sullivan added a double.

    In the Crestview League:

    Villa Park 2, Foothill 1: Justin Lopez hit a go-ahead home run in the sixth inning for Villa Park in a home win over Foothill.

    Lopez also walked twice and stole a base for Villa Park (14-6-1, 5-2). Aidan Young stole two bases and Jordan Laird went 2 for 2 with a stolen base. Jack McGuire pitched a complete game with one run allowed on two hits and 16 strikeouts.

    Jaxon Foshay had a solo home run for Foothill (14-7, 2-3).

    Cypress 5, El Dorado 0: Drew Slevcove pitched a three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts for Cypress.

    Dylan Keliiholokai hit two home runs for Cypress (15-5, 5-1) and drove in four of the team’s five runs. Ben Martinez added two hits with a run scored.

    In the Sunset League:

    Huntington Beach 16, Fountain Valley 4: Huntington Beach scored eight runs in the sixth inning against Fountain Valley.

    Elyjah Mason went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs for Huntington Beach (14-4-1, 10-0). Owen Bone had three hits with three RBIs and Cayden Hammond drove in two runs. Hammond also got the win on the mound with one earned run allowed in 4⅓ innings.

    Josh Grack went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Fountain Valley (11-8, 5-5).

    Edison 8, Marina 6: Andy Van Den Eynden hit a three-run, go-ahead double in the fifth inning for Edison in a home win over Marina.

    Van Den Eynden also hit a home run earlier in the game and had four RBIs. Cody Kruis drove in two runs for Edison (10-13, 6-7) and Noah Hunter went 3 for 4.

    Brody Schatzman had a double with three RBIs for Marina (9-11, 4-6).

    Corona del Mar 3, Los Alamitos 2 (9 innings): Brady Lenz hit a walk-off sacrifice fly for Corona del Mar to score Stevie Jones for the winning run in the ninth inning.

    Charlie Kaster went 2 for 4 with a stolen base and one RBI for Corona del Mar (9-10, 2-8). Ben Stone allowed no earned runs in 5 ⅓ innings with five strikeouts.

    Gerardo Garfiaz went 2 for 4 with one RBI for Los Alamitos (6-14, 2-11) and Rowan Shelley added two hits.

    In the Orange Coast League:

    Garden Grove 1, Valencia 0: Garden Grove grabbed sole possession of first place in the league standings with a shutout win over Valencia.

    Khai Anderson pitched two innings of scoreless relief for Garden Grove (12-6, 7-0) to improve his season record to 6-0.

    Manny Martinez pitched five shutout innings with just two hits allowed and three strikeouts. Jayden Peraza had two hits with a double and Walker Bass added a stolen base and a run.

    Grant Lorge allowed no earned runs in six innings with two strikeouts for Valencia (9-7, 5-2).

    In the Empire League:

    Laguna Hills 3, Katella 0: Joseph Skala pitched a two-hit shutout for Laguna Hills.

    Skala had six strikeouts for Laguna Hills (10-10, 4-4) and did not allow an extra-base hit. Noe Garcia went 2 for 3 with one RBI for the Hawks and Sam Kaminsky drove in a run.

    Vincent Aguilera allowed one earned run in six innings with eight strikeouts for Katella (10-10, 3-4).

    In the Golden West League:

    Tustin 5, Segerstrom 0: Adam Whyte had 16 strikeouts for Tustin in a complete game with three hits allowed.

    Whyte also went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs at the plate. Kobe Ardelean had two hits with a double and a RBI for Tustin (12-8, 4-1) and Nyte Teeter drove in a run.

    In the Sea View League:

    El Toro 6, San Juan Hills 4: Nathan Broesamle hit a home run with two RBIs for El Toro.

    Jonathan Gould went 2 for 4 with two RBIs for El Toro (10-8-1, 4-3) and Torrey Tombleson added a double with one RBI. Ethan Barro pitched a complete game with two earned runs allowed and four strikeouts.

    Garrett Gandolfo went 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs for San Juan Hills (13-9, 4-3).

    In nonleague games:

    Esperanza 7, Canyon 2: Brody Reeds had a stellar day on the mound and at the plate for Esperanza.

    Reeds pitched a complete game with two runs allowed and three strikeouts for Esperanza (11-9) and had a double with three RBIs at the plate. Robert Saldivar had two RBIs for the Aztecs and Preston Flint drove in a run.

    Stevenson had two hits with a double and one RBI for Canyon (10-10).

    Aliso Niguel 4, Capistrano Valley 3: Aliso Niguel stole seven bases in a nonleague win over Capistrano Valley.

    Carson Etnire went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and three stolen bases for Aliso Niguel (12-5-2). Jason Orwat went 2 for 2 with two stolen bases and Hudson Covington drove in a run. Andrew Watson had six strikeouts in five innings for the Wolverines and Weston Wendlandt got the save.

    Brayden Wick hit a home run for Capo Valley (6-13) and Reed Hitzler had a triple with one RBI.
