Boras Classic baseball tournament includes three Sunset League teams
    • April 6, 2026

This week’s Boras Classic Southern Section tournament is almost a Boras Classic Sunset League tournament.

“It sort of feels like it,” said Newport Harbor baseball coach Josh Lee.

Three of the 16 teams in the 14th Boras Classic tournament are Sunset League teams: Huntington Beach, Newport Harbor and Fountain Valley.

The games will be played at JSerra and Mater Dei. First-round games are Tuesday. The championship game is Thursday at 6 p.m. at Mater Dei.

Huntington Beach, which will be playing in its 11th Boras tournament, is in first place in the Sunset League with a 9-0 league record. Newport Harbor (10-2 in league) is in second and Fountain Valley (5-4 in league) is third.

This is the first Boras tournament for Fountain Valley and Newport Harbor.

Lee said his team is excited about the opportunity to compete in what is the best high school baseball tournament in the state.

“It’s a pretty big deal for our community, our program and our kids,” said Lee, last season’s Orange County baseball coach of the year. “It’s a huge honor. It’s going to be a lot of fun being among some of the best teams around.”
