    Baseball roundup: Cypress loses in National Classic semifinals

    Cypress had its seven-game winning streak come to an end Wednesday with a 5-1 loss to Centennial of Corona in the National Classic semifinals at El Dorado High.

    The Centurions were held to just four hits and allowed three runs in the first two innings.

    Air Force signee Jake DeLaquil had a double for Cypress (11-4) and Landon Anderson drove in the team’s lone run. Dylan Keliiholokai had two hits with a stolen base and Owen Moffit pitched two scoreless innings of relief.

    In the National Classic:

    Villa Park 5, Arcadia 2: Logan Hoppie pitched a complete game and allowed just one earned run for Villa Park in a win over Arcadia in the consolation bracket.

    Hoppie allowed five hits with six strikeouts for Villa Park (10-6-1). Justin Lopez went 2 for 4 with a triple, three stolen bases and three runs scored for the Spartans. Aidan Young drove in two runs and Zach Wobrock drove in one.

    Yorba Linda 5, Bishop Amat 0: Drew Parmenter allowed just two hits in six shutout innings for Yorba Linda in a shutout win over Bishop Amat in the consolation bracket.

    Michael Talbott led Yorba Linda’s (10-5-1) offense with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Vaughn Sharp went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Jackson Lang drove in a run and Owen Smith added a double.

    In the Trinity League:

    Santa Margarita 6, Mater Dei 0: Tyler Unter pitched six shutout innings with three hits allowed and nine strikeouts for Santa Margarita in a win over Mater Dei.

    The two teams split the first two games of the series and played 18 innings prior to Wednesday.

    Notre Dame signee Warren Gravely IV went 2 for 2 with three RBIs for Santa Margarita (13-5, 3-3). Oklahoma State signee Andre Owens had two doubles and scored two runs. Chase Marlow scored two runs and stole a base.

    Guth had a hit and a walk for Mater Dei (6-5, 1-2).

    In the Ryan Lemmon Invitational:

    Foothill 7, Tustin 2: Three different players had multiple RBIs for Foothill in a win over rival Tustin.

    Aidan Gogley and Brayden Bianchi each had two hits with a triple and two RBIs for Foothill (13-6). Peter Thatcher drove in two runs and Presley Gaborno went 2 for 2 with two runs scored.

    Everett Rycroft allowed two runs in six innings with seven strikeouts.

    Adam Whyte had a triple for Tustin (9-9) and TK Nagoya had a RBI single.

    Canyon 6, Woodbridge 4: John Somerndike went 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs for Canyon in a win over Woodbridge.

    Camden Goetz went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs for Canyon (9-8). Matt Simons added a double and Kemuel Zhang stole a base.

    Henry Uhrik had a double with two RBIs for Woodbridge (8-10).

    Pacifica 2, Laguna Beach 1: Pacifica scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Laguna Beach.

    Aaron Maragiaga scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded for Pacifica (9-7). Ryan Greenberg had a double for Pacifica and Brody Jakel stole a base. Cade Tessier allowed no earned runs in six innings and had five strikeouts.

    Aaron Crosby allowed one earned run in 6⅔ innings for Laguna Beach (11-6) and had 11 strikeouts. Crosby also had a double at the plate and Dylan Yencho added a double.

    In the South Coast League:

    Trabuco Hills 4, Aliso Niguel 1: Josh Fitch pitched a complete game for Trabuco Hills with just four hits allowed and six strikeouts in a win over Aliso Niguel.

    Brady Meade went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Everett Schweer added two hits with a RBI. Daniel Van De Kreeke had two doubles for Trabuco Hills (6-8, 3-2).

    Will Jenican had a double and a RBI for Aliso Niguel (11-4-2, 2-2-1) and Hayden James went 2 for 3 with a double.

    In the Sunset League:

    Fountain Valley 5, Edison 0: Nixon Hunt had eight strikeouts in four shutout innings for Fountain Valley in a win over Edison.

    The bullpen trio of D’Angelo Diaz, Billy Kutsch and Alyis Hernandez pitched three shutout innings with three strikeouts. Ethan Cortez had two doubles for Fountain Valley (10-3, 5-3) and Luke Scuncio drove in two runs. Jackson Clark added a RBI and a stolen base.

    Huntington Beach 8, Corona del Mar 2: Huntington Beach extended its winning streak to eight games by hitting six doubles in a win over Corona del Mar.

    Ely Mason hit two doubles and drove in two runs for Huntington Beach (10-2-1, 8-0). Dane Cunningham went 2 for 3 with a double, a stolen base and two RBIs. Parker Leoff went 3 for 4 with a double and Brayden Wood had a RBI double. Cayden Hammond had five strikeouts in four shutout innings.

    In the Sea View League:

    San Juan Hills 6, Capistrano Valley 1: Cameron Morrissey pitched a complete game for San Juan Hills with four hits allowed and eight strikeouts.

    Clay Riggs had a double with two RBIs for San Juan Hills (12-8, 3-2). Noah Wisneski had a double, a stolen base and a RBI for the Stallions and Garrett Gandolfo had two hits with a stolen base.

    Reed Hitzler drove in the lone run for Capistrano Valley (6-9, 3-2). Brody Hinrichsen and Talon Spencer had doubles for the Cougars.
