    What’s going on this week, July 29-Aug. 2, at the OC Fair

    Headed to the OC Fair this week? Here are some things to know.

    General information

    • Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and 11 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

    • General admission is $13 on Wednesdays and Thursdays and $18 on Fridays and weekends; tickets are $9 every day for children 6-12 and $10 for seniors 65 and older.

    • Tickets must be purchased ahead online at ocfair.com. Daily attendance is capped at about 55,000 people and the fair tends to sell out on popular days.

    • Parking is $15

    • OC Fair Express runs weekends, with direct bus service from the ARTIC station in Anaheim, Fullerton Park-and-Ride, Goldenwest Transportation Center in Huntington Beach,  Irvine Train Station, Laguna Hills Transportation Center and the Santa Ana train station. Get information on times and locations at ocfair.com, cost is $2 each way.

    Things to do

    • There are live cooking demonstrations highlighting food from around the world daily in the OC Promenade at 1, 3 and 5 p.m.

    • Fair After Dark is a nightly party taking over at the Plaza Stage at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and 8:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. There will be karaoke every Wednesday night, country dancing on Thursdays, a DJ on Fridays, swing dancing on Saturdays and Latin nights on Sundays.

    • Cheer on the All-Alaskan Racing Pigs; races start every hour and a half beginning at 2 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays and 12:30 p.m. on the weekends in the Plaza Pacifica. The last race is 8 p.m. each day. And note: Seating is first come, so grab a snack and settle in early.

    • The Orange County Wine Society offers wine education, tasting and award-winning pours daily in the Wine Courtyard – also one of the cooler outdoor spots to take a break in. Try the winners of this year’s OC Fair Commercial Wine Competition – they are all California wines – or meet some of the makers at the featured wine nights from 3 to 7 p.m. on Fridays-Sundays, check online for the schedule.

    •  July 29: Breakdown, The Tom Petty Experience at 8:15 p.m.

    •  July 30: DSB, A Tribute to Journey at 8:15 p.m.

    •  July 31: Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Grateful Dead tribute at 7 p.m.

    •  Aug. 1: It’s Britney Beep, A Live Tribute to Britney at 8:15 p.m.

    •  Aug. 2: Mariachi Sol de México de José Hernández at 2:30 p.m.; and Michael – The Concert, A Tribute to Michael Jackson at 8:15 p.m.

    Playing at the Pacific Amphitheatre (requires a ticket purchased in advance, but includes fair admission):

    •  July 29: Cypress Hill with Ozomatli at 7:30 p.m.

    •  July 30: Trevor Noah at 8:15 p.m.

    •  July 31: Nile Rodgers & Chic with Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe at 7:30 p.m.

    •  Aug. 1: The Fab Four at 8 p.m.
