    ALL-COUNTY GIRLS SOCCER TEAM 2025-26

    PLAYER OF THE YEAR

    Felicity Nguyen, Santa Margarita, Junior

Felicity Nguyen observed her veteran teammates closely during her freshman season with Santa Margarita girls soccer.

She watched the way Faith George impacted the squad as a high-scoring captain. She cherished how Natalie Leon made her feel welcome as a newcomer.

Nguyen remembered those qualities the next two years, and especially this winter as a team captain.

The junior forward delivered consistent playmaking and leadership to help keep Santa Margarita on top.

Nguyen tallied 29 goals and nine assists to power the Eagles to a second consecutive CIF-SS Open Division title.

For her efforts, the Texas A&M commit has been selected as the Orange County player of the year.

“She was the first non-senior captain I’ve had,” said Santa Margarita coach Craig Bull, who completed his fourth season. “She did great and led by example even as a junior.”

“She stayed committed,” the coach added. “She just wanted to win a CIF championship.”

Nguyen joined senior captains Emmie Nunez (injured) and Jastel David to lead a squad that saw two of its top players, Cora Fry (University of Tennessee) and Peyton Trayer (North Carolina), depart midseason because of  early graduations.

Nguyen, who plans to graduate early next year, became more vocal and continued to display strong on-field chemistry with David.

Nguyen also united with sophomores Lauren Lim and Winter Meskiel on the frontline.

“I love high school season. It’s really fun and I get to know all these girls,” Nguyen said. “I just don’t want to let the team down. As a captain, I feel that I need to be there for my team.”

Nguyen’s specialty remained scoring, especially inside the penalty box.

In a 3-0 win against Mater Dei in the section final, the Trinity League MVP scored twice, including on a penalty shot that she drew.

Earlier in the playoffs, Nguyen netted both of the Eagles’ goals in a pair of victories against Oaks Christian.

In the second round of the Trinity League, Nguyen scored once in an important 4-1 victory against Mater Dei that helped the Eagles claim the title.

“It’s her natural instincts,” Bull said of Nguyen, who produced 26 goals as a sophomore. “(And) she just hits the ball so well.”

Nguyen plays forward in club for the San Diego Surf. Her sister Trinity, 21, played soccer at Los Alamitos and Irvine Valley College.

She credits much of her success to the support of her parents Connie and Truc.

This past season, Nguyen found extra motivation after the death of her grandfather Son Tran in the fall. Son Tran’s wife Lieu attended Santa Margarita matches, along with grandparents Sang and Dac.

“That was an impact on my life,” Nguyen said of her grandfather’s death. “To play not only for myself and the team but to also play for my grandma and grandpa, who is watching from above.”

    COACH OF THE YEAR

    Craig Bull, Santa Margarita

Craig Bull guided a squad featuring only one senior starter to Trinity League and CIF-SS Open Division championships. The team finished as the Division I runner-up in the CIF SoCal Regional.

The Eagles (19-2-5) overcame inexperience and injuries, early graduation to two All-County players and the departure of two midfielders for other opportunities.

“He came in and really switched the program around,” senior Jastel David said of Bull, who has led Santa Margarita to three section titles.
