Chad Baker-Mazara, USC men’s basketball part ways
    • March 2, 2026

Chad Baker-Mazara is no longer part of the USC men’s basketball team, leaving the Trojans without their leading scorer.

The team issued a statement on Sunday at 3 p.m., but it did not give a reason for the 6-foot-7 guard’s departure. Baker-Mazara, who was averaging 18.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, had been dealing with apparent knee pain in the last two games and did not play in the majority of the second half of Saturday’s loss to Nebraska.

He was spotted sitting on the bench adjacent to the team bench after he left the game alongside injured point guard Rodney Rice, but still walked to team huddles during timeouts.

“He said he couldn’t go,” head coach Eric Musselman said of his status after the game.

Baker-Mazara played in 26 games this season for the Trojans, who have two games remaining in the regular season at Washington and at home against UCLA. Prior to joining USC as a transfer this season, he played two seasons at Auburn, one at San Diego State, and one at Duquesne.
