    Segerstrom Center announces 2026-27 Broadway Series

    The Segerstrom Center for the Arts, celebrating 40 years of presenting touring Broadway musicals in Orange County, will stage six local premieres along with returning favorites in its 2026-27 Broadway Series, announced Monday, Feb. 23.

    Highlights include season-opener “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” the first North American touring production of the show in 25 years, a brief appearance by “The Book of Mormon” around the holidays and “Maybe Happy Ending,” which recently won six Tony Awards, including best musical.

    Here’s a rundown of the series:

    “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” Sept. 22-Oct. 11: A new production will boast new sets and costumes, while retaining the classic score by Alan Mencken and Tim Rice with songs such as “Be Our Guest.”

    “The Outsiders,” Oct. 20-Nov. 1: This musical adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s novel and Francis Ford Coppola’s film tells the story of a band of “greasers” in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and their rivalry with the affluent “Socs.”

    “Water For Elephants,” Nov. 10-22: Sara Gruen’s novel about a young man who joins a traveling circus has been adapted into a musical by three-time Tony nominee Rick Elice.

    “The Book of Mormon,” Dec. 29-Jan. 3: The show that the New York Times declared “the best musical of this century” returns for a limited run.

    “Jersey Boys,” Jan. 26-31: This jukebox musical stuffed with hits by The Four Seasons is back on the road to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

    “The Who’s Tommy,” March 9-14, 2027: Pete Townshend’s 1969 rock opera, adapted to the stage by Tony winner Des McAnuff, is back with a new production.

    “Buena Vista Social Club,” March 30-April 11, 2027: This adaptation of the Grammy-winning album brings together musicians, actors and dancers from around the globe.

    “Waitress,” April 27-May 2.2027: Singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles wrote the music for this tale of a pie-maker who dreams of escaping her small town and a rocky marriage.

    “The Great Gatsby,” May 18-30, 2027: F. Scott Fitzgerald’s literary classic is transformed into a musical tale of wealth and tragedy that brings the Roaring Twenties to life on stage.

    “Maybe Happy Ending,” June 15-27, 2027: The 2025 Tony Award winner for best musical and five other honors, hailed as “one of the best musicals in years” by USA Today, embarks on its first North American tour.

    “Death Becomes Her,” July 27-Aug. 8, 2027: The 1992 film is remade as a musical comedy with direction and choreography by Tony winner Christopher Gattelli.

    Subscriptions are currently available with the options of the 10-show Mega Broadway season, the 7-show Broadway season or the 3-show Curtail Call season.
