    • July 14, 2026

After nearly 27 years in Costa Mesa, Yard House will close its Triangle Square location on Sept. 13. Both a restaurant employee and property management confirmed the upcoming closure.

Yard House, which has more than 90 locations around the country, is a casual chain restaurant known for its vast beer selection, American-fare menu and classic-rock vibes, along with its late-night hours.

According to property management at Triangle Square, the lease for Yard House recently ended and the restaurant opted not to renew. For now, ownership of the space is in discussions, with potential tenants for the space being considered.

Yard House has two other Orange County locations, in Brea and Irvine, both of which remain open for business; Yard House’s Fashion Island space shuttered in 2021.

Founded by Steele Platt in Long Beach in 1996, Yard House was later purchased by Darden Restaurants and now operates out of Orlando, Florida. Steele reportedly wrote the Yard House business plan in 1994 while tending bar in Huntington Beach. He sold it for $585 million in 2012.

Among the eateries in Darden’s portfolio are Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, The Capital Grille, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, Yard House, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen and Chuy’s.

Eddie V’s closed its Newport Beach location in June 2025.
