    Baseball roundup: La Habra scores in 7th inning to beat Cypress

    Angelo Patino hit a go-ahead single in the seventh inning for La Habra in a 2-1 win over Cypress in a Crestview League game Friday at Cypress High.

    Austin Stoa led the inning off with a single and advanced to second base on an error. La Habra (9-10-1, 2-4) used George Rocco as a pinch runner and he advanced to third on a passed ball before scoring on Patino’s single.

    Fernado Alatorre went 1 for 3 with one RBI for the Highlanders. Bobby Brooks pitched a complete game with three hits, one run allowed and a strikeout.

    Tate Belfanti allowed one earned run in six innings with 10 strikeouts for Cypress (14-5, 4-1). Jae-Ho Park went 2 for 3 with a stolen base and Hibiki Suzuki went 1 for 3 with a RBI.

    Cypress won the first two games of the three-game series against La Habra.

    In the Boras Classic:

    Corona 7, Newport Harbor 5: Newport Harbor scored five runs in the first two innings but couldn’t hold off Corona in the Boras Classic.

    Brooks Francis had two doubles and two RBIs for Newport Harbor (16-5). Henry Mann had two hits with a double in two RBIs and Keoni Wun added two hits.

    Los Osos 4, JSerra 3: Los Osos scored all four of its runs in the seventh inning to beat JSerra

    JSerra (7-12) had two outs in the seventh inning with a 3-1 lead but a fielding error by the Lions extended the inning. Dominic Rodriguez hit a three-run home run for Los Osos to take the lead.

    Brise Boop hit a home run with two RBIs for JSerra and Joey Koenig drove in a run.

    Mater Dei 6, Aquinas 5: Ezekiel Lara had a home run with three RBIs for the Monarchs.

    Navarro drove in two runs for Mater Dei (9-6) and Jaxon Olmstead drove in a run. Owen Shannon had five strikeouts in four innings and Aidan Harty got the save.

    In the Crestview League:

    Villa Park 12, El Dorado 2: Villa Park scored nine runs in the third inning in a blowout win over El Dorado.

    Dominic Gutierrez hit a grand slam for Villa Park (13-6-1, 4-2) in the third inning. Byrson Clinton went 2 for 2 with three RBIs and Justin Lopez went 4 for 4 with a RBI. Joseph Ramirez had two hits with a RBI and Jordan Laird had a RBI with two runs scored. Logan Hoppie pitched a complete game with one earned run allowed and three strikeouts.

    Xavi Cadena went 3 for 3 with a RBI for El Dorado (9-11, 1-4) and Christian Rojas drove in a run.

    In the North Hills League:

    Sunny Hills 2, Yorba Linda 1: Nick Talag hit a go-ahead double in the seventh inning for Sunny Hills in a road win.

    Oliver Botch pitched a complete game for Sunny Hills (9-7-2, 4-2) with three hits allowed and two strikeouts. He stranded two runners in the seventh inning to finish the game. Jacob Park drove in a run for the Lancers.

    Nathan Schneider drove in a run for Yorba Linda (12-6-1, 3-1). Kenji Shirley had nine strikeouts in five shutout innings.

    Sonora 8, Esperanza 2: Tucker Hunnicutt went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for Sonora in a win over Esperanza.

    Ryan Lietzau went 3 for 4 with a RBI and a stolen base for Sonora (11-7, 4-2). Chris Perez pitched a complete game with two hits and no earned runs allowed.

    Brody Reeds drove in a run for Esperanza (10-9, 2-4).

    In the Pacific Coast League:

    Woodbridge 1, University 0: Caleb Camacho scored on a walk-off passed ball for Woodbridge in the seventh inning after a pitcher’s duel.

    Kyle Underwood pitched six shutout innings for Woodbridge (10-10, 6-2) with seven strikeouts and Caden Camacho pitched the seventh inning to get the win. Henry Uhrik hit a double for Woodbridge in the seventh inning.

    Andrew Shean pitched 6⅓ innings for University (6-9, 4-4) with six hits allowed and eight strikeouts.

    Northwood 4, Laguna Beach 3: Northwood scored three runs in the sixth inning to beat Laguna Beach.

    Gabriel Ibasitas went 3 for 3 for Northwood (7-15, 2-6) and Caden Jacobs drove in two runs. Ibasitas had seven strikeouts in five innings for the Timberwolves and James Goodloe pitched two innings of relief to get the win.

    Gabe Paz and Dylan Yencho had doubles for Laguna Beach (12-7, 5-3). Aaron Crosby had 10 strikeouts in six innings.

    In the Golden West League:

    Tustin 7, Buena Park 6: Tustin held off a late rally from Buena Park to hold onto its first place position in the league standings.

    Nyte Teeter allowed two unearned runs in the seventh inning but struck out the last hitter to win the game for Tustin (11-8, 3-1). Isaac Maldonado pitched five innings for the Tillers with three earned runs allowed and six strikeouts.

    Andres Aguilar and Kobe Ardelean each drove in two runs for the Tillers and Angel Rodriguez had two hits with a stolen base.

    Alex Blancas had two doubles with two RBIs for Buena Park (6-14, 3-4). George De Avila added two hits with a RBI.

    In the Grove League:

    Orange 10, Rancho Alamitos 0: Evan Gonzalez had a big day on the mound and at the plate for Orange in a shutout win over Rancho Alamitos.

    Gonzalez pitched 6⅓ innings, allowed one hit and had 11 strikeouts for Orange (11-7, 6-0). He also went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs at the plate.

    Abraham Ontiveros went 2 for 3 with a double and a RBI and Nathan Yang added a triple with a RBI.

    In nonleague games:

    Trabuco Hills 6, Ocean View 3: Ethan Miller allowed one run in five innings with seven strikeouts for Trabuco Hills.

    Daniel Van De Kreeke had two doubles with a RBI for Trabuco Hills (9-8). Josh Fitch added a RBI and a stolen base. Landon Pompey and Clayton Cruise each went 1 for 3 with a RBI for the Mustangs and Jared Dunning drove in a run.

    Carson Sulsona went 2 for 3 with a home run and a stolen base for Ocean View (5-12). Conor Baird had a double with two RBIs.

    Corona del Mar 9, Rancho Mirage 1: Corona del Mar scored seven runs in the final three innings in a rout of Rancho Mirage.

    JJ Haley went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Corona del Mar (8-10). Charlie Kaster had two hits with a triple and two RBIs. Carter Canada had a double, a triple and scored two runs for the Sea Kings.

    Will Chavez allowed just one run on two hits with eight strikeouts in 5⅔ innings to get the win.
