    Dodgers’ pitchers dominate in win over Padres

    THE GAME: After exploding offensively in their Cactus League opener against the Angels on Saturday, the Dodgers’ pitchers carried the day Sunday, holding the San Diego Padres to five hits in a 5-1 victory at Peoria Sports Complex.

    PITCHING REPORT: The first seven Dodgers pitchers each contributed a scoreless inning. Will Klein retired the side in order during his inning. Carlos Duran and Chris Campos struck out two batters each in their inning. … The Padres’ only run came in the eighth inning off left-hander Ronan Kopp. Kopp gave up a two-out double to Nick Solak, then made a throwing error on a ground ball, leading to an unearned run.

    HITTING REPORT: Kyle Tucker had two plate appearances in his spring debut for the Dodgers. Tucker grounded out to second, drew a walk and scored a run. … The Dodgers batted around and scored four runs in the third inning. Will Smith drove in one run with a single and Nick Senzel had a two-run double. Ryan Fitzgerald forced in a run with a bases-loaded walk. … Smith had two singles and Senzel two doubles in the game. … Singles by Noah Miller, Chris Newell and Josue De Paula produced another run in the ninth inning.
