San Juan Hills baseball keeps winning since breakthrough moment
    • April 14, 2026

San Juan Hills’ baseball team played poorly in a 1-0 loss to University on March 5.

On March 6, San Juan Hills beat highly-ranked Cypress 11-0.

“That was a big belief moment for the guys,” said San Juan Hills coach Brett Levier. “It was like, ‘Oh, yeah. We can play.’ ”

The Stallions have gone 9-4 since that loss to University and sit on top of the Sea View League standings. They won two out of three in their league series against Capistrano Valley and Mission Viejo.

San Juan Hills (13-8 overall, 4-2 league), ranked No. 13 in the Orange County Top 25, plays a three-game Sea View League series this week against second place El Toro (9-8-1), which is tied with Capistrano Valley for second place at 3-3 in league.

The Stallions entered this season with a shortage of varsity-experienced players. Even the returning seniors had not played much in 2025 when a senior-heavy San Juan Hills team went 16-14 overall and finished in a four-way tie for second place in the Sea View League.

Junior pitcher Cameron Morrissey is 5-0 with a 1.07 ERA. Senior pitcher Garrett Gandolfo is 3-0 with a 1.68 ERA and is batting .308 with 14 RBIs. Senior cleanup hitter Hudson Doss has a team-high 19 RBIs. Clay Riggs, a junior, is batting. 338 with 17 RBIs. Senior Evan Legg is hitting. 340.

Levier said the Stallions seem to always be in position to win a game.

“There have been only two games all year when we didn’t have least the tying run at the plate in the last part of a game,” he said. “Even when we’re behind by a lot, we’ve chipped away at the lead to give us a chance.”
