O Sea in Orange closes earlier than planned; goodbye party announced
    • April 21, 2026

Well, that was fast: Less than a week after plans were announced to shutter later this month, O Sea has already served its final dish.

The Old Towne seafood restaurant, which had announced it would close at the end of April, instead wrapped up service on Saturday, April 18., according to both a restaurant customer and a message posted to its Instagram account. The abrupt change was due to “unforeseen staffing challenges,” said owner Mike Flynn.

Opening in 2021 on Glassell Street, O Sea quickly built a following for its sustainable seafood focus and playful, globally-bent menu. Dishes like Oaxacan hot shrimp and ahi crispy rice helped the eatery carve out a niche in Orange’s robust dining scene. King’s Seafood Company, a Costa Mesa-based restaurant group, purchased the O Sea brand along with its intellectual property.

Though regular service has ended, the team is planning a pair of farewell events this week. A market sale featuring remaining seafood and wine inventory is slated for Tuesday, April 21 from 4 to 8 p.m., with items available to-go.

O Sea will also host a one final gathering on Saturday, April 25 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. It’s billed as a “BYO Bottle party” happy hour. Guests and former regulars are encouraged to bring along a bottle to share as the team toasts the restaurant’s five-year run.

In the farewell message, Flynn thanks the community for tis support and invited guests to stop by for a proper goodbye.
