Orange Lutheran’s softball team packed a major milestone into its title run at the Best of the West tournament Saturday in Santa Maria.

The Lancers defeated Thousand Oaks 6-1 in the championship at Righetti High to earn Hall of Fame coach Steve Miklos his 600th career win.

Rylee Silva (10-2) stayed hot by pitching five scoreless innings of relief with seven strikeouts to help Orange Lutheran (15-5) finish the tournament 5-0.

Melia Munoz and Alyssa McClure each had a double and two RBIs to pace the Lancers’ offense.

    Madelyn Armendariz added two hits.

In the semifinals, Silva hit a walk-off two-run home run as Orange Lutheran beat Oxnard 7-5. The sophomore also had 10 strikeouts in earning the victory with 6 2/3 innings of relief.

Orange Lutheran’s offense received two hits apiece from Malia Smith, Mia Scott and Sierra Nichols.

Miklos has been the Lancers coach since 1998. He has guided the school to two CIF-SS titles.
