The new Phantom Theater attraction by Florida-based Sally Dark Rides will feature 26 scenes with animatronic figures, hidden Easter eggs and sound and wind effects.

The backstory of the new attraction takes riders inside the Phantom Theater on a dark and stormy night for the grand opening of a long-awaited pipe organ performance by the Maestro.

A lightning strike will release “ghost notes” from the organ that must be collected throughout the theater by riders in enchanted opera boxes using interactive spellbound flashlights to avoid an opening night disaster.

The dark ride will pass through haunted hallways, magical dressing rooms and backstage chaos as riders dodge cannon balls, avoid shattered mirrors and escape a fiery boiler room.

Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare will replace the Boo Blasters on Boo Hill interactive dark ride that ended a two-decade run in September.

The new Phantom Theater dark ride will return to the building where the original Phantom Theater attraction ran from 1992 to 2002.

The original Phantom Theater used an omnimover ride system that took riders on a behind-the-scenes tour of an abandoned theater where ghosts helped and haunted riders.

The original Phantom Theater wasn’t the first attraction in the Kings Island building that housed the Enchanted Voyage boat ride in 1972 and then the Smurfs Enchanted Voyage in 1984, according to Theme Park Insider.
