Real estate news: HoJo in Disney district launches next renovation phase
    • August 14, 2026

Work has begun on the third phase of renovations at the Howard Johnson Anaheim Resort & Water Playground in the Disney Resort District.

The Anaheim hotel at 1380 S Harbor Blvd. is being renovated by Irvine-based R.D. Olson Construction in a project dubbed “HoJo Reimagined.”

The work in this phase is refurbishing 93 guest rooms in a mid-century modern “polychromatic” style. The hotel has 302 rooms in total.

The construction company said that four hotel buildings will be reconstructed to add more spacious layouts with 10 being transformed into one-bedroom suites, a higher-end room type that is in demand.

R.D. Olson also is building four bridges and walkways across the new buildings to create a more seamless transition across the 7-acre property.

“Construction on a hotel doesn’t stop when a hotel is first completed – it keeps going to ensure all guests’ needs are accounted for,” according to Bill Wilhelm, CEO and president of R.D. Olson Construction. “This is our third phase of renovations and upgrades for the Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel & Water Playground, solidifying an eight-year relationship with the property. We have also worked within the Anaheim Resort district for over a decade, completing projects at eight hotels, including the Courtyard by Marriott.”

The hotel is open during construction, which is expected to take about a year.
