    Orange County girls basketball Top 25: No. 2 Sage Hill set for tough tournament

    The first in-season rankings for Orange County girls basketball on Monday, Nov. 24. The team records are through Sunday, Nov. 23.

    ORANGE COUNTY GIRLS BASKETBALL TOP 25

    1. Mater Dei (1-0): The Monarchs play host to Bishop Montgomery (1-1) on Tuesday to open their first Holiday Classic. Mater Dei is No. 9 in the MaxPreps national preseason rankings.

    2. Sage Hill (1-0): The Lightning play Carondelet, which they lost to in the state Division I final last season, at the Battle at the Beach tournament Friday at Redondo. The tournament also features reigning state Open champion Etiwanda.

    3. Fairmont Prep (1-0): The Huskies face Sierra Canyon at the Pacifica Christian showcase on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

    4. San Clemente (4-0): Izzy Sims scored 22 points as the Tritons defeated San Juan Hills 56-46 in the finals of the Oxford Academy tournament.

    5. Villa Park (4-0): Olivia Sturdivant earned MVP honors after the Spartans won the Villa Park/Portola Kickoff Classic.

    6. JSerra (3-1): The Lions, the runner-up at the Villa Park-Portola tournament, play Lynwood in a single game Friday at Redondo.

    7. Esperanza (0-0): The Aztecs play reigning CIF-SS Open Division champion Ontario Christian on Tuesday.

    8. Portola (3-1): Kara Niho and Madison Nguyen averaged 15 and 13 points, respectively, as the Bulldogs placed third at their Villa Park-Portola Kickoff Classic.

    9. Troy (2-2): Mei-Ling Perry averaged 20.5 points to help the Warriors finish fourth at the Villa Park-Portola Kickoff Classic.
