    Baseball roundup: San Clemente sweeps Tesoro; Mater Dei defeats Servite

    Joaquim Baumgardner hit a walk-off single in the eighth inning to give San Clemente a 5-4 win over Tesoro in a South Coast League game at San Clemente High.

    Nick Cappello led off the eighth inning with a walk and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt. Cappello went 2 for 2 with one RBI and two walks.

    Barrett Wood had two hits with one RBI and Colin Dobbs pitched three innings of scoreless relief before Cassius Sisson pitched a scoreless eighth to get the win.

    San Clemente (14-8, 5-4) swept Tesoro this week and moved into second place in the league standings.

    Aidan Nieto had two hits with one RBI for Tesoro (7-10-1, 1-4-1) and had six strikeouts in four innings on the mound. Charlie Moraga had two hits with a RBI and Brandon Black added two hits.

    In other games Friday:

    In the Trinity League:

    Mater Dei 5, Servite 1: Ezekiel Lara and Tristan Ramos had big days in the middle of the lineup for Mater Dei in a win over Servite.

    Lara went 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI for Mater Dei (12-7, 3-3) and Ramos went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Emilio Young had a single and one RBI.

    John Sullivan went 2 for 3 with a home run for Servite (13-9, 5-4).

    In the South Coast League:

    Trabuco Hills 5, Dana Hills 2: Everett Schweer had a home run, a double and two RBIs for Trabuco Hills in a series-clinching win over Dana Hills.

    Amedeo Miller had a double with one RBI and got the save with 3⅓ innings of relief with one run allowed.

    Skyler Sims allowed one run in 3 ⅔ innings with three strikeouts for Trabuco Hills (12-9, 6-3) and Josh Fitch drove in a run.

    Gavin Giese pitched a complete game for Dana Hills (14-7, 3-3) with seven strikeouts. Tyler Van Duyne had a triple with one RBI for the Dolphins and Ryan See had two hits.

    In the Sea View League:

    El Toro 8, San Juan Hills 3: El Toro scored six runs in the second inning to beat San Juan Hills and move into a tie for first place in the league standings.

    Gavin Broesamle pitched four innings with five strikeouts and went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs at the plate. Jonathan Gould had a double with two RBIs for El Toro (11-9-1, 5-4) and Brayden Penrod drove in a run.

    Brodie Corpuz went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for San Juan Hills (14-10, 5-4). Garrett Gandolfo had two hits and a stolen base.

    In the Orange League:

    Magnolia 6, Santa Ana Valley 1: Jonathan Hernandez pitched a complete game, allowed one run and had eight strikeouts for Magnolia.

    Alex Zuniga had two hits with one RBI for Magnolia (12-6, 7-3) and Ramirez drove in two runs. Hedayatullah Shinwari had four stolen bases and drove in a run.

    In the North Hills League:

    Yorba Linda 8, Troy 5: Four different players had multi-hit games for Yorba Linda in a win over Troy.

    Jackson Lang went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Yorba Linda (14-6-1, 5-1). Nathan Schneider and Michael Talbott each had two hits with one RBI and Vaughn Sharp added two hits. Kenji Shirley had six strikeouts in five innings to get the win on the mound.

    Jack Bistline went 2 for 3 with two stolen bases and one RBI for Troy (12-9, 1-7). Zachary Blume and Sebastian Madden each added a hit with one RBI.

    In the Crestview League:

    Cypress 2, El Dorado 0: Tate Belfanti threw a two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts for Cypress.

    Tyler Vladic led the offense with two hits and one RBI. Ivan Ortiz and Tyler Velarde stole bases for Cypress (17-5, 7-1) and Ortiz scored a run.

    Logan Steenburgen allowed two runs in five innings with four strikeouts for El Dorado (9-14, 1-7).

    In the Sunset League:

    Huntington Beach 11, Fountain Valley 1: Huntington Beach scored nine runs in the first two innings in a rout of Fountain Valley.

    Owen Bone and Eyjah Mason each had a hit with two RBIs for Huntington Beach (16-4-1, 12-0). Brayden Wood and Jared Grindlinger each drove in two runs and Jason Dunham went 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI. Tanner Brown allowed one run in five innings.

    Jackson Clark had a double for Fountain Valley (11-10, 5-7).

    Marina 6, Edison 4: Aiden Hesse had a home run and three RBIs for Marina to win the season series against Edison.

    Liam Haynes had a single and one RBI for Marina (11-11, 6-6) and Bradley Hall got the win with three strikeouts in three innings.

    Jack Brown hit a home run for Edison (10-15, 6-9) and Andy Van Den Eyden added two doubles with two RBIs.

    In the Orange Coast League:

    Garden Grove 7, Valencia 3: Garden Grove extended its lead in the Orange Coast League standings by beating Valencia twice this week.

    Khai Anderson allowed no earned runs in five innings to earn his seventh win of the season. Mario Salas went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Garden Grove (13-6, 8-1). Frank Lam added two hits with three RBIs.

    In the North Hills League:

    Sonora 3, Sunny Hills 2: Ryan Lietzau went 4 for 4, stole two bases and scored two runs for Sonora (12-8, 5-3).

    Chris Perez pitched a complete game with five strikeouts for Sonora and drove in two runs.

    Nick Talag had a double with two RBIs for Sunny Hills (11-8-2, 5-3) and Oliver Botch had two hits with a double.

    In a nonleague game:

    Aliso Niguel 7, Capistrano Valley 4: Aliso Niguel completed a three-game sweep of Capistrano Valley in a nonleague series.

    Hudson Covington went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Aliso Niguel (14-5-2). Carson Etnire had three hits with a stolen base and Andrew Watson went 1 for 3 with a run. Ryan Maguire and Owen Holtzer each went 1 for 3 with a RBI.

    Brayden Wick had a double with one RBI for Capo Valley (6-15). Grady Pirayoff and Reed Hitzler each had a hit and one RBI.
