Ryan See leads the way as Dana Hills baseball routs Beckman
    • March 26, 2026

DANA POINT — Early in the nonleague baseball game between Beckman and Dana Hills on Wednesday it became clear that Dana Hills junior Ryan See was going to have a memorable game.

See was dominant on the mound and at the plate in Dana Hills’ 10-1 rout of Beckman at Dana Hills High.

The 6-foot-5 junior allowed no earned runs in five innings on the mound with seven strikeouts for the Dolphins (10-4), who are No. 18 in the Orange County rankings. See also went 3 for 3 at the plate with a home run, a triple and four runs batted in.

“He’s been pretty special,” Dana Hills coach Tom Faris said of See. “He gets more locked in when he’s pitching, too, at the plate, so it’s nice to see him doing well at the plate even when he’s pitching.”

“It gives me a different aspect and different look at the game,” See said. “It helps me focus more.”

See was a solid contributor for the Dolphins last season, but is having a breakout start to his junior season. He leads the team in hitting with a .422 batting average, is tied for the team lead in home runs (2) and leads the team in extra-base hits.

As a pitcher, he has a team-high four wins and has a 1.42 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 29⅔ innings.

After allowing back-to-back singles by Beckman (6-3-1) to start the game, See retired the next eight consecutive hitters and struck out six of them.

“I felt good. I was getting ahead with the heater early and used the slider for the putaway pitch,” See said.

Dana Hills gave See more than enough run support with eight runs in the first two innings. Before Beckman could get an out, See hit a two-run triple and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Tommy Burke to give the Dolphins a 3-0 lead.

Tyler Van Duyne led off the second inning with a double and scored on a RBI single by Jaiden Guzman. Sophomore Ely Olesen hit a three-run home run to extend Dana Hills’ lead to 7-0.

Olesen went 2 for 2 with a home run, a double and three RBIs.

“He’s strong, like really strong,” Faris said of Olesen with a smile. “He works really hard in the weight room and it really pays off. There’s a big future for him.”

Gavin Vogel hit a run-scoring single in the second inning and See hit a two-run home run in the third to give the Dolphins a 10-0 lead.

Beckman scored on a RBI groundout by Jack Powell. Jaxson Gomez had two hits for the Patriots and Jack David had four strikeouts in two perfect innings of relief.

The Patriots were coming off a 9-1 win over former Pacific Coast League opponent Northwood on Monday. Beckman opens Sea View League play with a three-game series against El Toro starting on Tuesday, Mar. 31.

Dana Hills has a nonleague game against Santiago of Corona on Thursday and opens South Coast League play against San Clemente next week. The Dolphins finished third place in the South Coast League standings last season.

“I think we’ve done a really good job so far,” Faris said. “The hitting, seeing some of the kids’ progression has been really impressive. They’ve learned to make adjustments within a game the last few games and they’ve had really quality at-bats.
