JSerra softball hands Orange Lutheran first loss in Trinity League
    • April 22, 2026

ORANGE — JSerra pitcher Liliana Escobar did her job in the circle, Brookyln Lamb homered to give Escobar an early lead, and the Lions came away with a much-needed victory over Orange Lutheran, 4-2, in a Trinity League game Tuesday at Orange Lutheran High School.

The victory keeps the Lions (17-10, 2-3), ranked sixth in Orange County, in contention in the Trinity League with four league games remaining.

JSerra also snapped No. 2 Orange Lutheran’s seven-game winning streak and handed the first-place Lancers (17-6, 4-1) their first league loss.

Escobar, a University of Florida signee, allowed two runs on six hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks over seven innings.

“That has been the key to our success is her being composed and knowing she is a good pitcher,” JSerra coach Katie Smith said. “She has kept us in most of these bigger games.”

Mia Scott and Melia Munoz reached base to open the fourth for the Lancers, but Escobar responded by striking out the next three hitters.

“My job is just to get ahead and get whatever outs I can for the team,” Escobar said. “And (the Lancers) are always great. They are always going to put up a good offense as well as pitching.”

Lamb’s home run with one out in the first gave the Lions the early lead.

The junior also singled and scored as part of a three-run fifth for JSerra. Magenta De Arte drove in a run and Angie Jimenez singled in run in the inning.

Scott doubled to lead off the sixth for the Lancers and scored on a single from Carlie Snyder for the Lancers’ first run. But Escobar retired the next two hitters, leaving Snyder stranded.

Maddison Milne doubled to lead off the seventh for Orange Lutheran and then scored the Lancers’ second run on Sierra Nichols’ single.

After Milne scored, the Lancers had the tying run at the plate with one out, but Escobar retired the next two hitters to secure the victory.

Rylee Silva had 10 strikeouts for the Lancers.

The Lancers defeated the Lions, 4-3, in their first matchup on March 31.

The teams will play again May 1 in the second-to-last-game of the regular season.

“She’s a good pitcher,” Orange Lutheran coach Steve Miklos said of Escobar. “She threw a great game. They are a very good team. I thought going into the season they had the best pitching.”
