Taste of the Arts ‘dinner-and-a-show’ series returns to Segerstrom Center
    • April 9, 2026

“Did you come here for a pie, sir?”

If that Sondheim lyric has ever crossed your mind at the theater, Segerstrom Center for the Arts has a more appetizing answer. No dubious meat fillings here, only a three- to four-course meal before the show.

The Costa Mesa center’s returning Taste of the Arts series pairs suppers (and one lunch) with select performances throughout the 2026-2027 season, turning a night out that begins at a nearby restaurant and ends at the theater.

Across six dates, meals are timed roughly two hours before the curtain rises, followed by performances that span genres ranging from jazz and Broadway to classical music and ballet.

Sept 19: The series opens with Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra paired with Caló Kitchen + Tequila. Expect a lively start with ceviche, followed by options like short-rib enchiladas or chicken fajitas before the brass kicks in. Dinner starts at 5 p.m.

Oct 28: The Outsiders,” which won the Tony Award for Best Musical, arrives alongside Antonello Ristorante where the menu leans toward classic Northern Italian dishes. Burrata ravioli, chicken parmigiana and other Tuscan staples served in a dining room that’s been around since the Carter administration. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m.

Dec 10: Emmy-nominated actor and singer Tituss Burgess arrives in Orange County. His concert is paired with Morton’s the Steakhouse, where dinner skews toward traditional steakhouse fare. Think Caesar salad and French onion soup as starters, followed by center-cut filet mignon and Ora king salmon. All of this before the show’s more intimate, table-seated performance. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m.

Feb 14: For Valentine’s Day, Takács Quartet and Paradise Dynasty team up. Here the format flips to lunch, with a dim sum spread and the restaurant’s signature xiao long bao (soup dumplings) leading into a Beethoven-heavy program. Lunch starts at 1 p.m.

April 15, 2027: Dance enters the mix care of “The Sleeping Beauty,” prefaced by a dinner at Water Grill. The seafood-focused menu typically highlights catches, like Chilean sea bass and clam chowder, as well as other non-Neptunian dishes like grilled Mary’s chicken and filet mignon. Dinner starts at 5 p.m.

May 11, 2027: The series concludes with Jessica Vosk (whose turn as Elphaba in “Wicked” made her a breakout star) matched with AnQi Bistro at South Coast Plaza. Look forward to wok shaken beef, crispy orange peel chicken and the An family’s garlic noodles. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m.

Taste of the Arts subscriptions cost $1,350. Find it at scfta.org/taste.
