    Crews fighting fire on Camp Pendleton

    Crews are battling a fire that erupted Monday in brush on the north end of Camp Pendleton and burned about 650 acres, Cal Fire and base officials said.

    The fire was reported about 1:30 p.m. in the Quebec training area of the Marine Corps base, military officials said, and said late Monday afternoon there were “no known threats to life, safety, or infrastructure.”

    Shortly after 7 p.m., Cal Fire said the fire had grown to 650 acres and was about 5% contained.

    The Camp Pendleton Fire Department personnel is working in coordination with the Orange County Fire Authority and Cleveland National Forest crews to respond to the incident.
