    Orange County softball Top 25: La Habra takes top spot for CIF quarterfinals

    The Orange County softball rankings as of Tuesday, May 19.

    Notable this week: La Habra jumps three spots to No. 1 after defeating Los Altos and top-seeded Murrieta Mesa in the first two rounds of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs. The Highlanders are ranked No. 1 for the first time this season. … Pacifica rises one notch to No. 4 with its 9-8 win in nine inning against Cypress in the second round in Division 1. … Mater Dei promotes one spot to No. 6 after reaching the Division 2 quarterfinals.

    ORANGE COUNTY SOFTBALL TOP 25

    1. La Habra (22-7): Samantha Cervantes pitched a complete game in a 6-4 win against top-seeded Murrieta Mesa in the second round of the Division 1 playoffs. The senior threw four scoreless innings against Los Altos in the first round.

    2. Orange Lutheran (21-8): Madelyn Armendariz went 6 for 7 with four doubles and three RBIs in two wins to help the Lancers reach Wednesday’s Division 1 quarterfinal at La Habra.

    3. JSerra (22-8): Annabel Raftery went 5 for 7 with a home run, two doubles and two RBIs in a pair of victories as the Lions reached Wednesday’s Division 1 quarterfinal at Pacifica.

    4. Pacifica (19-10): Mattea Stern is 10 for 14 (.714) with five RBIs and multiple stellar catches in center field in her last three games.

    7. El Modena (15-14): Parker Mayes and Jocelyn Alatorre tied for the team-lead with 34 hits.
