    Baseball roundup: Mater Dei tops Santa Margarita; Cypress reaches National Classic semifinals

    Mater Dei and Santa Margarita played nine innings for the second consecutive game Tuesday, but this time the Monarchs came away with a 5-2 win after dropping the opener to the Trinity League series Monday.

    Long Beach State signee Tristan Ramos hit a go-ahead two-run triple for Mater Dei (6-4, 1-1) in the ninth inning. Giovanni Rudisill was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to extend the lead later in the inning.

    Jackson Campbell allowed one run in six innings for the Monarchs and Mason Mejias got the win with three good innings.

    Noah Darnell allowed one earned run in six innings for Santa Margarita (12-5, 2-3) with seven strikeouts. Chase Marlow drove in both runs for Santa Margarita with two hits and Dylan Bright hit a double.

    In other games Tuesday:

    In the Trinity League:

    JSerra 2, Servite 1: JSerra snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over visiting Servite in the Trinity League.

    Otto Grahamm allowed one run in 6⅓ innings with four strikeouts for JSerra (6-8, 1-4). Joe Hollis got the last two outs to earn the save.

    Ayden Coleman had a double with a RBI for the Lions and Joey Koenig added a RBI and a stolen base.

    Eli Rubel had a double with a RBI for Servite (10-5, 3-2). Shane Wendler pitched a complete game for the Friars with eight strikeouts.

    In the National Classic:

    Cypress 2, Basic (Nevada) 0: Cypress extended its winning streak to seven games with a shutout win over Basic of Nevada.

    UC Santa Barbara signee Drew Slevcove pitched a shutout with six strikeouts for Cypress (11-3) in the championship quarterfinals. Tyler Vladic hit a RBI single for the Centurions and Jake DeLaquil went 2 for 3 with a double.

    The Centurions advance to the semifinals to face Corona Centennial on Wednesday at El Dorado High at 4 p.m.

    Villa Park 2, Bishop Amat 1: Jack McGuire pitched a complete game with just four hits allowed and nine strikeouts for Villa Park in a win over Bishop Amat in the consolation bracket.

    Jesse Olivan-Vazquez hit a pinch hit RBI single for Villa Park (9-6-1) in the sixth inning. Jordan Laird and Justin Lopez each went 2 for 3 with a double and Rafael Ramirez added two hits.

    El Dorado 6, Aquinas 1: Brady Abner went 3 for 3 with a double and a RBI for El Dorado in a win over Aquinas in the consolation bracket.

    Xavi Cadena went 2 for 4 with a RBI for El Dorado (9-7) and Sam Orozco added two hits with a RBI. Christian Rojas hit a double and scored two runs. Steven Duran got the win on the mound with three shutout innings and just one hit allowed.

    Yorba Linda 5, Corona Santiago 3: Troy Radomski pitched a complete game for Yorba Linda in a win over Santiago of Corona in the consolation bracket.

    Michael Talbott had two hits with a double, a stolen base and two RBIs for Yorba Linda (9-5-1). Vaughn Sharp had two hits with a double, a stolen base and a RBI. Jackson Lang went 3 for 3 with a double and Owen Smith added two hits.

    In the Ryan Lemmon Invitational:

    Foothill 6, Irvine 0: Jackson Phillips threw a shutout with nine strikeouts against Irvine at the Great Park.

    The sophomore has a 0.42 ERA this season and hasn’t allowed an earned run in 16 consecutive innings.

    Jaxon Foshay went 2 for 2 with two stolen bases, a RBI and three runs scored for Foothill (12-6).

    Patrick Petrossi and Maddux Blevins each went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Petrossi added a double. Aidan Gogley also doubled and Brayden Bianchi drove in a run.

    Nico Macalino and Chris Shen each had singles for Irvine.

    Foothill will play rival Tustin in the tournament Wednesday. The Knights haven’t played Tustin since 2024 when they beat the Tillers 2-0.

    Irvine will play El Modena on Wednesday.

    El Modena 4, Segerstrom 2 (9 innings): El Modena scored three runs in the ninth inning to top Segerstrom.

    Daniel Vega hit a sacrifice fly to give El Modena (13-4) a 2-1 lead in the ninth. Cameron Collazo scored on a passed ball in the ensuing at bat and Matthew Gutierrez hit a run-scoring double to extend the lead to 4-1. Isaac Silva had three hits with a RBI and Jorge Chavez added two hits.

    Ryan Novajoski pitched seven shutout innings, allowed just four hits and had six strikeouts for the Vanguards. Gutierrez got the win in relief despite allowing two unearned runs.

    Tito Fraser allowed one unearned run in 7⅓ innings for Segerstrom (5-9) with three strikeouts. Jonathan Macias went 2 for 4 with a RBI and Xaiver Yanez frove in a run.

    Laguna Beach 9, Charter Oak 2: Jacob Wicker hit a home run with two RBIs for Laguna Beach in a win over Charter Oak.

    Parker Moore and Jackson Arrasin each hit a double with two RBIs for Laguna Beach (11-5). Dylan Yencho had three hits with a RBI and Otis Boultinghouse had two hits with a double. Brandon Wade allowed one run in five innings with seven strikeouts.

    Woodbridge 13, Chico 2: JJ Metcalf hit a home run with four RBIs for Woodbridge in a rout of Chico.

    Henry Uhrik went 3 for 4 with a double and a RBI for Woodbridge (8-9). Caleb and Caden Camacho each had two hits, a double and combined for three RBIs. Vaughn Tase and Ari Firestone each had two hits with a RBI.

    Vincent DeMarco had six strikeouts in three innings and Joe Yasui allowed one run in four innings.

    In the South Coast League:

    Aliso Niguel 3, Trabuco Hills 2: Andrew Watson allowed just one run in six innings with seven strikeouts for Aliso Niguel in a home win over Trabuco Hills.

    Watson added a double at the plate and Weston Wendlandt got the save with a scoreless inning. Henry Drews had two doubles and a RBI for Aliso Niguel (11-3-2, 2-1-1) and Hudson Covington went 2 for 4 with a RBI.

    Trabuco Hills (5-8, 2-2) had the bases loaded in the seventh inning but Wendlandt escaped the jam. Daniel Van De Kreeke went 2 for 3 with a double and a RBI. Amedeo Miller drove in a run for the Mustangs.

    San Clemente 2, Dana Hills 0: Easton Muraira and Owen Goulet combined to shutout Dana Hills with just five hits allowed and seven strikeouts.

    Joaquim Baumgardner went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for San Clemente (11-6, 2-2). Nick Cappello hit a pinch hit single for the Tritons and scored a run.

    Ryan See had nine strikeouts in 5⅓ innings for Dana Hills (11-5, 0-1) and allowed just two runs on three hits. See went 2 for 3 with a double at the plate. Ely Olesen and Tommy Burke each hit doubles for the Dolphins.

    In the Sunset League:

    Newport Harbor 8, Los Alamitos 0: Gavin Guy allowed just one hit, no runs and had nine strikeouts for Newport Harbor in a rout of Los Alamitos.

    Cameron Hatfield went 1 for 2 with three RBIs for Newport Harbor (13-2, 6-1). Keoni Wun went 3 for 4 with a stolen base. Henry Mann went 2 for 3 with a RBI and Horsley went 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

    Los Alamitos (5-11, 2-8) learned Tuesday that it had to forfeit its previous six games due to players on its team competing for an outside team during the season.

    In the Sea View League:

    El Toro 1, Beckman 0: A leadoff home run by Gavin Broesamle in the first inning was all the scoring El Toro needed to beat Beckman on the road.

    Ethan Barro pitched a shutout for El Toro (6-7-1, 2-2) with five hits allowed and five strikeouts.

    Carter Head rebounded nicely for Beckman (6-4-1, 0-1) after the leadoff home run and pitched six innings with four hits and seven strikeouts. Kai Carney went 2 for 2 with a double and Jack Powell added a double.

    Capistrano Valley 8, San Juan Hills 2: Capo Valley rallied for six runs in the sixth inning to beat San Juan Hills at home.

    Brock Rainis hit a three-run home run for Capo Valley (6-8, 3-1) in the sixth inning and Cal commit Talon Spencer hit a two-run single. Mason Benjamin hit a RBI single earlier in the inning and Brody Hinrichsen had two hits with a RBI.

    Hudson Doss hit a home run with two RBIs for San Juan Hills (11-8, 2-2).

    In the Empire League:

    Costa Mesa 7, Katella 0: Felix Tiquia pitched a shutout for Costa Mesa with four hits allowed and four strikeouts.

    Grady Jackson hit a home run, a double and two RBIs for Costa Mesa (11-4, 3-2). Ben Quintero had a double with two RBIs and Will Morales went 3 for 3 with a RBI.

    In the Orange Coast League:

    Garden Grove 2, Santa Ana 0: Manny Martinez faced one batter over the minimum for Garden Grove in a shutout of Santa Ana.

    Martinez allowed just two hits and had seven strikeouts. Frank Lam had a triple with a RBI for Garden Grove (8-5, 5-1) and Walker Bass added a double.
