    Rosary breaks own county record in 4×100 relay at Mt. SAC meet

    Rosary’s 4×100 relay team broke the Orange County girls record for the event with its time of 45.21 seconds in the Mt. SAC Relays at Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday.

    The Royals foursome of – in the order in which they run the 4×100 –  freshman Tra’via Flournoy, junior Justine Wilson, junior Jada Faison and freshman Maliyah Collins set the county record last week with its time of 45.47 at the Arcadia Invitational.

    Collins was fourth in the 100 at 11.72 seconds, the second-best time in county history. Western’s Carol Rodriguez set the record with a time of 11.66 in 2003.

    Rosary’s 45.21 was just ahead of second-place Long Beach Poly’s 45.29. Rosary also set the Mt. SAC Relays meet record for the 4×100.

    Servite won the boys 4×100 relay in 40.15 seconds. Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks was second at 41.12 followed by Long Beach Poly at 41.33.

    Servite’s 4×100 team of freshman Jorden Wells, sophomore Benjamin Harris, freshman Kamil Pelovello and sophomore Robert Gardner set the county record in the 4×100 with its time of 40.00 last week at Arcadia.

    Los Alamitos senior Devin Bragg ran the 100 in the second-best Orange County time of this season, 10.42 seconds. That is the fifth-best time in county history. Bragg finished third in the race won by Mt. Miguel junior Brandon Arrington in 10.21 seconds, the best time in California high school track this season. Servite’s Jorden Wells was fourth at 10.54.

    Aliso Niguel junior Jaslene Massey continued her season of excellence by winning the invitational shot put with a mark of 48 feet, 8.25 inches. She is the county leader in the girls shot put with a mark of 50-7 that is the second-best mark in O.C. history.

    JSerra won the girls invitational 1,600 sprint medley at 3 minutes, 55.58 seconds. The sprint medley is a four-runner relay race in which the four members run a different distance, usually two runners at 200 meters, another at 400 meters and another at 800 meters

    Trabuco Hills won the girls invitational 4×800 relay with a time of  9 minutes, 16.11 seconds. El Toro finished second, Santa Margarita third and San Clemente fifth.

    Dylan Jubak of Trabuco Hills won the boys invitational mile at 4 minutes, 9.01 seconds on Friday at the Mt. SAC Relays.

    Dana Hills senior Annie Ivarsson won the girls seeded 800 with her time of 2 minutes, 10.20 seconds for her best performance in that event this season.

    Santa Margarita’s Brady Furr posted a county-leading 16 feet, 3 inches in the pole vault as he finished sixth.
