Rams trade out of 1st round of NFL draft, gain 2026 1st-round pick
    • April 25, 2025

LOS ANGELES — One year after making a first-round draft pick for the first time since 2016, the Rams reverted to the norm on Thursday night by trading the No. 26 pick in the NFL draft to the Atlanta Falcons.

In exchange, the Rams received the No. 46 and No. 242 picks in this year’s draft and the Falcons’ 2026 first-round selection, per multiple media reports. The Rams also sent the 101st pick in this year’s draft to Atlanta.

A year ago, the Rams stayed put in the first round and selected eventual NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Jared Verse. But the Rams also traded their 2025 second-round pick to move up in the second round last year to select Verse’s Florida State teammate, Braden Fiske.

So without their own second rounder in this year’s draft, the Rams moved back 20 spots while acquiring more draft capital, including an additional first-round selection in a talented quarterback class in 2026.

The Falcons used the Rams’ first-round pick to select Tennessee edge rusher James Pearce.
