    Anaheim Hills briefs: Hills community has Halloween fun all planned out

    There are several fun and safe Halloween celebrations planned in the Hills community this weekend, beginning with a haunted mansion.

    Kids are encouraged to wear their costumes for the event at 11 a.m. on Oct 21 at the East Anaheim Branch Library. There will also be the opportunity for crafts, candy and Halloween family fun.

    That evening, families are invited to the parking lot of Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church for a Trunk or Treat Halloween Festival from 5:30 to 8 p.m.. Kids will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat as they go from trunk to trunk. This event offers live music, food, drinks, contests and much more – all at no cost to attend.     Halloween fun continues at 11 a.m. on Oct. 28 when the East Hills Branch Library hosts a magic show with Christopher T. Magician, as well as games and treats – costumes are encouraged. For questions, call the branch at 714-765-3887.

    Canyon Hills Library will host a Trunk or Treat event in its parking lot from 4 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 28, with several local organizations bringing decorated vehicles as they line up ready for trick-or-treaters. Sponsored by the Friends of Canyon Hills Library, the event will also gives kids and families the opportunity to participate in games and other activities throughout the evening.     Remember, there is no charge to attend or participate in any of these Halloween events.

    Women’s Connection plans Thanksgiving luncheon

    A Thanksgiving celebration is planned for the Nov. 13 luncheon of the Anaheim, Orange and Villa Park Women’s Connection at the Black Gold Golf Club. All women are invited.

    Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for socializing and shopping from the onsite vendors, followed by the luncheon and program at 11:30 a.m.

    The afternoon program will feature Jim Konoske, an antique appraiser. Guests may bring a treasured piece or antique to share and have evaluated, as time allows. Blessie Mamos will inspire guests with her gift of music. Guest speaker Nancy Williams will share how to “Brace Yourself for Perfection.”

    Cost to attend is $32 per person and the reservation deadline is Oct. 30.  The day concludes at 1:30 p.m. Anyone interested in attending, should call Barbi Zipperian at 714-280-9062 to make a reservation.

    Women’s Connection ministry marks milestone

    Stonecroft celebrates 85 years of ministries with a special birthday celebration planned at 10  a.m. Nov. 4 at Benedict Castle in Riverside. And all women in the community are invited.

    The Women’s Connection of Anaheim, Orange and Villa Park is part of the Stonecroft Ministries.

    This special event includes lunch, inspirational music and guest speakers. Cost to attend is $35 per person with a reservation by Oct. 21. Reservations after that date cost is $45 per person and must be made by Oct. 27.

    Help Marines enjoy Thanksgiving

    Patriots 4 Pendleton have recently launched a Thanksgiving gift card drive for the Marines and their families of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit stationed at Camp Pendleton.

    The nonprofit organization is asking for $25 gift cards for grocery stores or Walmart. The cards will be distributed to lower ranked Marines to help them have a Thanksgiving dinner.

    Ebell Club plans November gathering

    The next general meeting of the Ebell Club of Canyon Hills will be 10 a.m. Nov. 6 in the Fellowship Hall of Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church. All women in the community are invited.

    Program co-chairs Sue Shuckhart and Gayle Cornejo have arranged for special entertainment. In addition to the program, the morning agenda will include updates on fundraising, membership and social activities.

    Besides raising funds to support major philanthropies, members also share in fun activities including going out to lunch, card games, movie outings, social gatherings as well as local excursions.
