    OC softball Top 25: Rosary and Orange Lutheran tighten grip atop rankings

    The Orange County high school softball rankings for this week, as of Monday, April 28.

    Notable this week: Rosary and Orange Lutheran remain No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, as they challenge for league titles. Both teams can clinch at least a share of their league titles this week. … Fullerton climbs one spot to No. 3 on the strength of a recent win against No. 4 Pacifica. … Cypress, the fourth place team in the Crestview League, rises two spots to No. 12.

    SOFTBALL TOP 25

    (Records through Sunday, April 27)

    1. Rosary (22-2-1): The Royals, who have won 13 consecutive games, can clinch at least a share of the Pacific Coast League title by beating Irvine on Monday.

    2. Orange Lutheran (20-3): Kai Minor is hitting .535 with 16 doubles and 28 RBIs for the Lancers, who can clinch at league a share of the Trinity League crown by beating JSerra on Tuesday.

    3. Fullerton (18-7): Hayley Brock is hitting .430 with 11 doubles and 23 RBIs for the Indians, who lost to Long Beach Poly last week.

    4. Pacifica (15-8): The Mariners can boost their chances of winning the Crestview League title with a win at Canyon on Wednesday.

    5. Canyon (18-7): The Comanches beat El Modena 8-1 last week to win the teams’ season-series in the Crestview League.

    6. El Modena (16-7): Kaitlyn Galasso leads the Vanguards’ offense in average (.458), home runs (nine) and RBIs (25).

    7. Mater Dei (14-10-1): The Monarchs play at Santa Margarita on Tuesday for sole possession of second place in the Trinity League.

    8. Santa Margarita (17-7-1): Sawyer Denser struck out 10 and went 2 for 3 with an RBI in a 5-3 win against JSerra last week.

    9. JSerra (13-12): Liliana Escobar has 168 strikeouts in 97 innings for the Lions, who need win at least one of their final three games to finish .500.

    10. La Habra (19-7): Alyssa Hernandez hit her eighth home run Friday for the Highlanders, who have cliched the Freeway League title.
